Project Capabilities
DTI has an extensive engineering and fabrication capability. Our corporate headquarters facility encompasses 70,000 total square feet under roof and another 50,000 square foot lay-down area.
We have certified welders in every category of welding consistent with Industry Standards including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
We use proven techniques for pipe fitting and welding to ensure full penetration welds with X-ray quality workmanship for both pipe and structural welding. Our welding is approved on pipe up to 16” in diameter, and structural up to 1” in thickness. We are qualified for Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper Nickel, Super Duplex Stainless Steel, and Inconel.
Our shop has produced fire protection skids 18 meters in length, 4 meters wide, and weighing over 17 tons. We specialize in large bladder tank and deluge valve skids, as well as enclosed fire pump packages with fully insulated buildings.

Testing
We are capable of passing all NDT requirements including X-ray, magnetic particle, dye penetrent, or simply a basic hydrostatic test. Our hydrostatic testing is done in accordance with ASME B31.3 or the project specification, whichever is more stringent. These tests are typically witnessed by an objective third party inspector.
Fire & Gas Panel Fabrication
DT has a UL508 electrical panel shop where Fire & Gas Control Panels are fabricated and assembled in an air conditioned environment. DT utilizes high quality electrical work practices and has the capability of providing UL 508 labeling on made-to-order control panels. Free standing or wall mount NEMA 1, 3, 4, 4X, 7, or 12 enclosures can be provided for the desired controllers. We can also provide electrical equipment compliant with non-US electrical standards such as CENELEC.
Our panel shop personnel are experienced with numerous lines of electrical controls including Notifier, Siemens (Cerberus Pyrotronics), Detector Electronics, Zellweger (Sieger), Spectrex, Scott Bacharach, Draeger, Gastech, General Monitors, MSA, and Allen Bradley PLCs.
Our project management group is led by a Professional Engineer with seventeen years experience in the fire protection industry.
We utilize Project Teams to manage each project to ensure on-time delivery in accordance with the Project Specifications. Each team is led by a dedicated Project Manager who coordinates designers, drafters, and documentation specialists.
Our goal: On time delivery, best value, and full compliance with the project specification, while providing timely communication to the customer throughout the project cycle.
In addition, our Project Managers are factory trained and very experienced in all aspects of fire protection and life safety systems. We also test them to higher levels of NICET each year in order to constantly improve our Corporate IQ.
DTI’s Project Managers utilize various software and written procedures to control each project from beginning to end. Our comprehensive design review process ensures a design which complies with the project specifications as well as industry standards.
We have standardized on Microsoft ® Word and Excel, Microsoft ® Project, and AutoCAD ®. We also utilize THE ® Hydraulic calculation software, KYPipe hydraulic calculation software, Kidde FM200 cryogenic hydraulic software, Kidde FE-13 calculation software, Kidde CO2 calculation software, and Ansul Inergen software.
All projects are subject to the strict quality control program which follows the requirements of ISO 9001. Drawings are reviewed and approved for construction before any electrical or mechanical fabrication or assembly begins by a licensed P.E. and customer. A detailed shop traveler accompanies each set of drawings to complement the information provided on the drawings.
Quality checks are made throughout the design, fabrication, and testing processes verifying that each piece of equipment meets the specification. We welcome third party inspectors to double check our work. Our workmanship is guaranteed.
